First partial day in Prague
First lesson: we’re not in Vienna anymore. Although David picked up enough German to pass as a three-year old, the prevalence of English-speakers in Vienna made being there as easy as being at home. Not so in Prague. Even the Info desk gal at the major train station in Prague was very weak in English—probably less able in English than David is in German. Once we got it figured out, and found where Tram #14 was hiding, getting to the hotel was no problem. The Prague Tram system is not as modern as Vienna’s but is just as functional.
After getting settled in we went for a brief stroll. The Tábak store right across the street has all manner of smoking goods and I do mean all. David found a Romeo y Julieta de Habana that was worth the surprisingly low price. It was a bit grassy on the finish, but a robust smoke as one would expect from the real deal.
So, a short, partial Saturday in Prague. Prague Castle, the highlight of the city, is likely the entire agenda for tomorrow.
